FALL COMPETITIVE PROGRAM

ARE THERE TRYOUTS? WHEN?
Tryouts are available to all age eligible players for that division and are communicated out during the Fall to those players email addresses, based on their age for the season (which is slightly different than Little League age dates) so they know about the tryout dates and times. 12U tryouts are first, followed by 11U, 10U, 9U, and 8U if a team is fielded.
WHAT IF MY PLAYER DOESN'T MAKE IT? CAN I STILL PLAY FALL BALL WITH NELL?
YES! Please do!! Any player that does not make the competitive team is still welcome to play recreation baseball in the Fall.
IF MY PLAYER MAKES THE COMPETITIVE TEAM, DOES HE/SHE STILL NEED TO PLAY SPRING BALL AT NELL?
Any player that is selected for the Saint Pete Barracudas teams are required to play the Spring season under our normal NELL Little League program. We do not run a competitive program that encourages players outside of our NELL boundaries to just play competitive ball without being committed to being full-time Little League players in the Spring
WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE PRACTICES?
The practices are determined by the coach along with field availability. Typically the practices are at NELL facilities at times when the NELL teams do not require those facilities.
WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE GAMES?
The tournaments are up to the coaches, however, typically played within a 100 mile radius of St Pete. These teams traditionally play weekend tournaments, starting in August, with two games on Saturdays, a minimum of one game on Sunday with continuation of play, depending on performance over the day on Sunday, up to 4 total games for the day. These teams traditionally play 1- 2 tournaments a month, between 7- 10 tournaments in the fall season, (think 22-32 games) with three nights of practice as well.
WHAT ARE THE FEES?
Tournament fees are approximately $60 - $75 per player for each of the weekend tournaments, uniform costs are around $250-300 for the season, as well as paying the existing fall, NELL registration fees ($185) that allow for the use of the fields and the insurance to cover the players.
DOES MY PLAYER NEED TO BE A BARRACUDA TO MAKE NELL ALL STARS?
Absolutely not.
WHAT IF MY PLAYER PLAYS OTHER SPORTS IN THE FALL?
You will need to work out those details with the coach...and likely JUGGLE.
