Fees & Requirements

Northeast Little League Fees

The registration fee for one child is $120 + a $50 League Support Fee*
(total $170).

Multi-Child Discounts

NELL Board of directors has implemented a multi-child discount structure.  To take advantage of this new structure you must register ALL your children at the same time.  The web site is good but it is not smart enough to give you this discount if you register your kids at different times.  Here is how the discounts work:

Spring 2010 Season

1st Child – $120 Registration + $50 League Support Fee*

2nd Child – $95 Registration + $40 League Support Fee* – $35 Discount

3rd Child - $10 Registration + $30 League Support Fee* – $130 Discount

4th + Children – Free -  $170 savings per child

This caps family registration fees at $225.00 and the new League Support Fee* that can be refunded at $120.

Fall 2010 Season

1st Child – $75 Registration + $50 League Support Fee*

2nd Child – $60 Registration + $40 League Support Fee* – $25 Discount

3rd Child - $20 Registration + $30 League Support Fee* – $75 Discount

4th + Children – Free -  $125 savings per child

This caps family registration fees at $155.00 and the new League Support Fee* that can be refunded at $120.

*League Support Fee

NELL is a volunteer organization and has always had a volunteer requirement from the parents as part of your child’s registration.  We need your help to accomplish our goals as a league.  Traditionally the lion’s share of the work has fallen on a very small proportion of the membership.  This has been an ongoing issue for a long time at NELL and I suspect it is an issue with every volunteer based organization.  Following the lead from the Northeast Raiders Soccer Organization, the board of directors has implemented a League Support Fee.  This fee is a $50 fee charged at registration.  This fee is refundable upon completion of the 10 hours of required volunteer time.

You will be provided with a Volunteer form as part of your registration packet.  As you complete your volunteer time, have the Board Member on Duty sign off on that time.  Once you have gotten 10 hours of volunteer time, you get your $50 back.  Tracking and maintaining this information is YOUR responsibility.  It is up to you to have your form, get your form signed by the BMOD and turn it in for your refund.  We have done away with the straight buyout concept that we have used the last 2 seasons but if you would rather not volunteer at all, you can still choose that option on the buyout.  Your $50 will fulfill your volunteer commitment for the season.

On the registration form you will be asked what committee you want to spend your volunteer time on.  You are not limited to this committee but you do need to sign up for an area that interests you.  Choose the committee option of “Buyout – Keep My Support Fee” if you do not want to do any volunteer work.  This is the same as the traditional buyout.  Otherwise, choose one of the committees you would be interested in working on: Membership, Opening/Closing Day, Grounds and Maintenance, or Fund Raising.  All these committees need your help so pick one that meets your fancy.  In addition to the committee membership, if you do not choose the Buyout option, you will be assigned time in the concession stand during a couple of your child’s games.  This time in the concession stand will fulfill probably half of your volunteer commitment by the way so helping on opening day, or show up for a work party, or make some calls for the fundraising committee and your commitment is done.

AGE

Your child needs to be the appropriate age (League age 5 for baseball based on their age on 4/30 of the following year or 7 for girls softball based on their age on 12/31 of the current year), you will have to register using the on line registration system, and you will need to provide NELL with a copy of their birth certificate, a copy of their City of St. Petersburg ID card, and another proof of residency.

What is the city ID?

The city of St. Petersburg requires that all players obtain and maintain a current city ID. IDs can be obtained for a nominal fee at any Parks and Rec office. The fee is paid to the city of St. Petersburg for upkeep of their facilities and has nothing to do with NELL. Any city rec center like Shore Acres complex has the ability to provide you with a City ID.

What equipment is needed/Required?

NELL will provide the teams with bats, balls, batting helmets, and catchers equipment. You will also be provided with a team hat and a team jersey. Pants, socks, cleats, and gloves will be the responsibility of the parent to provide for their child. As the children get into the older leagues it is not uncommon for players to have their own batting helmets and bats but the league will provide basic equipment for use when needed.  (Friendly tip from one of our concerned moms – Hair spray sprayed in the helmet helps deter the spread of lice.)
